Up for sale is a 1920 era Junior League Motor Corps license plate topper from Plainfield, New Jersey. The Junior League was a young women's group that started in 1901 that worked to improve social, health, and educational issues in their community. The Motor Corps was started during World War I by the San Francisco chapter as a delivery service and this became the model for the nationwide Red Cross Motor Corps later on. The Plainfield, NJ chapter of the Junior League was established in 1923, dating this piece to the 1920s. If you want a deeper dive on the history of the Junior League, check out our item spotlight on this piece here!

This topper is made out of porcelain and features white on cobalt blue coloring. This topper would look great in a collection of New Jersey toppers or license plates, as well as in a collection of women's association memorabilia.

Toppers like this are neat pieces of automobilia and would have been mounted to the top of license plates. Toppers were used to add some personalization to your car and were a predecessor of bumper stickers. If you're interested in learning more about license plate toppers, see our blog post here.

Condition:

The topper is in 100% original condition, with no touch ups or restoration. It is in great vintage condition, with some wear to the paint from the years of storage and use on a vehicle. It has a VERY tiny chip in the upper right corner.

We have many of other license plates, find them here!
